The Monkey Bar & Grill

A chef-driven restaurant and bar that's anchored the corner of Yonge and Lawrence for nearly three decades — honest comfort cooking, a well-stocked bar, and a warm room that locals have been calling their own since 1996.

Nearly thirty years on one corner.

The Monkey Bar & Grill opened its doors at Yonge and Lawrence in the mid-nineties and never went looking for trends. The idea was simple then and it's simple now: cook generously, pour honestly, and treat the room like an extension of your own table.

“Comfort food, cooked with care — and a bar you actually want to sit at.”

The menu draws on Canadian, Italian, French and Asian influences, leaning on local and organic ingredients where it can. Desserts are made in-house. After all these years the same regulars still come back — which is, honestly, the only review that's ever mattered to us.

  2. 2

    Order generously

Share a few starters, pick something off the grill, and let the room talk you into a second glass.

    Stay for dessert

Everything sweet is made here. Finish slow, settle the bill, and tell us you'll be back — the regulars always are.
